Tribal Treks: “In Search of the Spirit Bear”

Tribal Treks takes ordinary people on extraordinary adventures with the First Nations people of Canada.

In this episode, Liz and Manrico Scremin, two outdoor enthusiasts travel to Klemtu, British Columbia,Canada in pursuit of the Spirit, or Kermode, Bear. Jeff Barrett of Spirit Bear Adventures arranges their tour and along with their boat driver, Chief of the Kitasoo and Xai’xai people, Charlie Mason, and their two guides, Doug Neasloss and Verne Brown, they head up the river in search of the elusive Spirit Bear.

Along the way, Elder Francis Robinson tells the history of the Kitasoo and Xai’xai people, they see black bears fishing and grizzly bears playing and, finally – a Kermode bear!
